Settling in, Venturing Out: Winter Activities in Sapphire Valley

Many across the country allow themselves to be happily snowed in whenever winter weather strikes. Our residents at The Divide, however, love to venture outdoors instead of staying in.

The winter is an exciting time for the Cashiers region. The summer crowds and lingering tourists all head home to set up camp in their own hometowns, leaving the area soundless and peaceful. Many of our residents, therefore, settle in and explore everything their home in the Sapphire Valley region has to offer. The scenic views and monstrous mountains become the perfect backdrop for any and all beloved winter activities.

While hiking is one of the most popular activities in the region year-round, the snow adds a little extra fun to the trails. Whether you choose to strap on the snowshoes or go without, there certainly isn’t a lack of beauty and you’ll have the time of your life getting lost in it. Letting nature and the area’s wildlife surround you is one of our residents’ favorite things about the area. The snowcapped trees and gravity-defying frozen waterfalls are a photographer’s dream. The Friends of Panthertown make sure the local network of hiking paths and trails are well-maintained and easy to navigate so you can take a stroll through the softly-falling, swirling snow.

If your tastes are more adventurous, take a trip down the local zip lines. The Sapphire Valley Resort’s Vordach Zip Line will give you an exclusive canopy tour of the stunning, iced landscapes and bright, white treetops. For those who like their feet on the ground, there’s also a variety of slopes to carve down while skiing or snowboard (followed by a steaming cup of coffee or hot chocolate of course). You can even check the weather and conditions online.

What can we say? We have some really active residents. Think you’d fit right in? Call our main office at 800-228-0431 to learn more about our homes.
